A New Beginning

Blogging is a weird thing, isn't it?

You pour your heart out on the internet, expecting nobody in your ACTUAL life to read it (but obviously hoping somebody will?) then get surprised when you actually make... friends?

I'm assuming you're reading this because you read my old blog, The Rachael Way.  That entire blog has been deleted.  Every single post.  I wrote so many posts (y'all, I blogged for over six years!)

Why are they all gone?  The truth is, I got really sick and had to leave China fast (if you didn't know, I was teaching there for three years).  It was awful; my relationship fell apart, and I moved home way faster than I ever intended.  So I stopped blogging, and honestly lost a bit of myself.  But blogging friends, I never stopped thinking about you!  It may have taken a few years, but I think I'm getting the itch to write again and be involved in this community.  After a chat with Chelsea, who encouraged me to get back out there because I have something to say, I finally am taking the plunge and decided to write.

I dug through my Google Photos and this was the last picture I took in Shanghai before I left.  I was reading with my students and one of my students took this picture of me.  I asked them to wechat it to me (kind of like texting...) oh, the differences of teaching in China and America!

I'm now living in Atlanta, teaching Language Arts and I love it!  That's the only thing I'll publicly write about my job since I want to keep it ;)  I want to write here about my travel, beauty, books, friendship, podcasts, and everything that interests me!  I also loved writing monthly recaps, and am sad that I don't have those documented anymore (but really, it's probably better off that way that my students can't read what I was doing when I was 22, ha!)

This is a no-pressure, fun space to just relax and write.  A hobby I've truly missed.  I've also been inspired by Influenced: The Podcast (if you haven't listened, you must!), and my dear friend Becca, who is blogging again after a hiatus the way she wants.

Becca is one of my closest friends in Atlanta.  Crazy we met on the internet.  Crazy!

Glad you're here and hope you'll stay!

xoxo,
Rachael
